The stock result
How the expected takings, surplus or shortage and gross profit are worked out.
The result is in large figures on Stock details, under the period details and the adjustments and allowances. It is worked out again every time anything on the sheet changes.

- Expected takings: what the stock sold should have taken. That is each item's sales at its selling price, plus the adjustments, less the allowances.
- Actual receipts: the total receipts you typed.
- Surplus when the receipts are more than expected; Shortage, in red, when they are less.
- Actual gross profit: takings excluding VAT, less the cost of what was sold, as a share of takings excluding VAT. It shows once the takings are in.
Takings excluding VAT are worked out at each group's VAT rate, so a group on a rate of its own is taken off at that rate. Draught sold is also given in barrels.
The Bar summary report sets all of this out group by group, with the gross profit of each.
